Studio Notes
A closer look at the collections we work with and the decisions that shape their care. Short notes on family photographs, personal papers, and the details that emerge along the way.
A Place to Start
Sorting through family photographs can feel overwhelming, even when they matter deeply. You don’t need to organize everything before asking for help. A box of photographs is a place to start.

An album count was only the starting point. During an assessment, loose photographs tucked between the pages revealed a larger collection and questions about how the images belonged together.

Photographs bundled into stacks can be difficult to revisit. A closer look at making family collections easier to access and why rubber bands are best replaced with suitable photo storage.
Numbers Without an Order
Numbers and labels suggest a system, but these slides arrived mixed together with no clear sequence. Understanding the markings may help reveal connections within the collection.
